Gianna Rovere reads from her debut «Episoden von Alltagselefanten»: short texts born of exploratory play, through collecting, searching and finding. As if seen through a kaleidoscope, surprising overlaps and connections between elephants and women emerge. The obsession was sparked by an observation at the zoo, where a female elephant's breasts were commented on disparagingly. A literary exploration of the internal and external gazes that brush past their appearances, their bodies and their volume every day.
Gianna Rovere, born and raised in the Luzerner Rottal, lives in Zurich. She works as a curator, freelance cultural journalist and author. Her texts engage with curious everyday observations and the bodies that move through them.
